Monthly Clinic

The adult health program provides many services such as blood sugar, blood pressure, and cholesterol screenings throughout Lawrence County.  Follow-up testing is conducted and referrals are made to family physicians.  Health education and counseling is provided as needed.  Screenings are held monthly at each Senior Center in our county as well as the Health Department and local facilities upon request.

Health Education/Promotion

Staff members are available to give presentations to interested groups.  A variety of subject matter is available covering subjects of interest regarding services provided at the Health Department.  Educational material is available upon request.  Appropriate and timely press releases keep our community informed of Health Department services and the latest health related information.

Communicable Disease

A variety of approved public health techniques are used by the Health Department personnel to assist in the control of communicable diseases.  This includes enforcement of health laws and policies, epidemiologic investigations, referrals for laboratory procedures, and medical treatments follow-up of cases, health educations, counseling, and reporting.  The Health Department staff work very closely with area hospitals, physicians, labs, and the State Health Department to control communicable diseased outbreaks in the county.

Vision and Hearing

Our vision and hearing programs were designed to identify children who may have vision or hearing difficulties and provide appropriate referral for evaluation and/or treatment.  Vision screenings are only available to pre-school and school age children.  Hearing tests are also provided for pre-school and school age children.

Audiograms are available to our adult community by appointment from the client, employer, or a physician order.
