    In 1996 the Illinois Department of Human Service (DHS), local health departments, and the Illinois Network of Child Care Resource and Referral Agencies partnered together to improve the health and safety in Illinois child care settings.

    The goals of the Health Child Care Illinois Child Care Nurse Consultant network are to:

•   Improve the health and safety of children in child care

•   Facilitate children's use of health services

•   Increase health promotion and disease prevention in child care.

    Project CHILD's main office is in Mt. Vernon, IL, but they maintain a satellite office in Bridgeport to better serve their large area.
